Ok, follow carefully... The owners, are two local mothers, who happen to share the same kids. Confusing? Yes, we know. Ready for the jaw dropper? Fabiola Gomez, who had two children with Edward Copeland, is now business partners with Janelle Copeland, Edward's current wife. Between the two women, they co-parent a total of three children, (two daughters from Fabiola and Edward, and one daughter from Janelle and Edward). The three girls are the foundation of this business...The "Little Cake Mamas" :) The idea was to take the passion both women shared equally and possessed a great deal of talent in and turn it into a family owned and operated business that their kids could be a part of. Making cakes for friends and family was something the two women did frequently, but never together. In April 2009, Janelle had a CRAZY dream that together, her and Fabiola owned and managed a family bakery. She shared her story with their children one morning while getting them ready for school, and they shared a few laughs and some excitement about it.
They went on about their day and later told their mother, Fabiola all about it. Inspired and excited, Fabiola thought they would make an “unusual” yet great team. Fabiola had the bakery expreience and Janelle had the business experience, so together they had it all covered. That same week, the women decided to take their skills and put them to the test. They began brainstorming over the business possibilities, testing recipes, naming flavors and all kinds of other crazy stuff! The kids, (Jasmyn, Kaylah
and Jordan), named them “The Cake Mamas”. They designed business cards, created a website and developed an online marketing strategy to jump start their own bakery business, which would focus on custom/specialty cakes.
Within a week, word of mouth hit the streets, and the unlikely pair began catering to the local community for all special “treat” needs. School functions for their kids, the girls’ Doctor’s office, local real estate agents, playgroup moms, hair salons, local businesses all became customers and big FANS of the women’s cakes!
Today, after only 10 months of business, The Cake Mamas have made over 250 gorgeous cakes, gained close to 1,000 Fans/followers on Facebook and Twitter, have added celebrity clients to their roster, and remain booked solid every weekend since April 2009!
Our goal is to open a neighborhood bakery that fills a void in the local area. We want the local community members know our story, taste our cakes, and then TELL EVERYONE THEY KNOW! It’s kind of like encouraging the gossip, but putting the most positive spin possible on it! ;) Our mission is to keep the cakes affordable, but still offer a differentiated design and taste that is only a result of utilizing the finest quality ingredients and the most talented cake decorators.
Thanks for taking the time to check us out! We appreciate your patronage and look forward to becoming your new bakery of choice!

The Cake Mamas specialize in custom cakes of all kinds, for ANY occasion. We are not your average bakery, grocery store or discount warehouse club that bakes cakes and sits them out for people to purchase. All of our work is customized to your specific request and made fresh for each order. You won't find any frozen cakes here!
There are so many different factors that determine the final cost of a cake. The design, intricacy, and the number of people you need to serve are just a few. Please keep in mind the amount of time it takes to design, bake, assemble and decorate your cake. This is a tough job and is extremely time consuming! This is all factored into the price of your cake.
Most of the cakes you see featured on our website, are made with fondant. Fondant is expensive! Most bakeries charge anywhere from $5-$14 per serving for a cake covered in fondant! We try our best to stay competitive and offer reasonable prices to our customers, but when you want stuff sculpted, or 3-dimensional, or carved...It's gonna cost you, because it costs us.
If an elaborate, 4 tiered, hand piped, fondant covered cake with sculpted figurines is way out of your price range...Don't panic! We can also design with whip cream or buttercream icing. We have sheet cakes available for large parites as well.
The most important question to ask yourself when ordering a cake is... How many people do you plan to feed?
Final price will be given at the time you place your order.

With all the unique and amazing cake designs available today, below are tips on how to cut different shaped cakes into uniform slices. Also, check out the Wilton website for more helpful information on cakes.
Wedding cakes are usually cut into 1 x 2 inch slices. Before cutting the cake, remove the top tier. This is usually saved for the wedding couple's first anniversary. Then start cutting into the 2nd tier, next 3rd tier and so forth.
Party Cakes are typically cut into 1 1/2 x 2 inch slices. Please note that our cakes are much taller than most cakes, so the serving sizes vary.
Round:
1 x 2 in. slices: Move in 2 in. from the tier's outer edge and cut a circle. Slice and serve 1 in. pieces from around the circle. Now move in another 2 in. and cut another circle. Repeat process until the tier is completely cut. The center core of each tier and the small top tier can be cut into 4ths, 6ths, or more, depending on size. 1 1/2 x 2 in. slices.
To cut round cakes, move in 2 in. from the cake´s outer edge; cut a circle and then slice approximately 1 ½ in. pieces within the circle. Now move in another 2 in. and cut another circle; slice approximately 1 ½ in. pieces. Continue until the cake is completely cut. Note: 6 in. diameter cakes should be cut in wedges, without a center circle. Cut petal and hexagon cakes similar to round cakes.
Petal:
1 x 2 in. slices: Cut similar to round tiers.
Oval:
1 x 2 in. slices: Move in 2 in. from the outer edge and cut across. Slice and serve 1 in. pieces of cake. Now move in another 2 in., repeat process until the entire tier is cut.
Square and Sheet:
1 x 2 in. slices: Move in 2 in. from the outer edge and cut vertically, top to bottom. Slice and serve 1 in. pieces of cake. Now move in another 2 in. and repeat process until the entire tier is cut.1 1/2 x 2 in. slices: To cut square cakes, move in 2 in. from the outer edge and cut top to bottom, then slice approximately 1 ½ in. pieces. Now move in another 2 in. and continue until the entire cake is cut.
Heart:
1 x 2 in. slices: Divide the tiers vertically into 2 in. wide rows. Within rows, slice and serve 1 in. pieces of cake.
Hexagon:
Tips:
1.Have a long thin knife and cake server ready.
2.Run the knife under hot water to help the knife glide easily through the cake as you slice.
3.Dry the knife after your first cut to prevent crumbling.
4.Wash and dry the knife between every slice to ensure a smooth cut every time.
5.To make even slices, place a light mark on the cake.
6.Use a cake server or spatula to lift each pice of cake onto a plate or into favor cake boxes.

About Our Cakes
How much do your cakes cost?
Prices vary depending on size, detail, intricacy & complexity of your design. For quote, please go to Place Order. We do have an order minimum of $100 on all cakes.
Your cakes LOOK good, but do they taste good too?
Our cakes are made using only high quality ingredients including real butter, milk, flour, sugar, eggs and fresh fruit. No frozen stuff here! So, YES... They do taste as good as they look! - see what our happy customers are saying!
Do you sell sheet cakes, ready-made cakes or “basic”/simple cakes?
No. We work closely with you to make sure each “show stopping” cake is unique and reflects the recipient’s personality and sense of style. We create custom “centerpiece” cakes. Not basic sheet cakes.
Do you make gluten-free or dietary cakes?
Unfortunately, at this time we do not. Simply because we have not found a recipe that we think is as amazing as our regular cakes. Sorry, but we ARE working on it!
Do you deliver? Do you ship your cakes?
Yes, we deliver to Los Angeles county, Orange county and the Inland Empire. Unfortunately, we do NOT ship cakes…We DO, however ship cookies!
Tastings and Ordering
How much are cake tastings, and what do they entail?
Our tastings are done in a group setting and usually occur once per month. Each couple chooses 3-4 flavors they are interested in, and everyone meets and tastes all of them. Usually, couples have the opportunity to taste about 8 different flavors so it works out best this way! You also get to take ALL of the cakes home with you to let your friends & family help you decide on flavors;) We charge $25 per couple for tastings, but when you book your order with us, the $25 gets applied toward your order. We recommend that you bring in any pictures, invitations, etc, that may help us come up with something perfect for your event.
How can I order a cake, cupcakes or cookies?
You can send us over ALL the details of your event on our Place Order page. We will review your submission and get back to you with a quote within 48 hours.
Do you have a retail store where I can walk in and purchase a cake or view your work?
No, we are a home based business who utilizes a commercial kitchen to prepare our creations. We work by-appointment only. We have almost ALL of our work featured online at Flickr, Facebook and on our Blog.
How early should I place my order?
A cake order should be placed as soon as you have finalized all the details of your event. Colors, theme, amount of servings, etc. Since we are usually booked out a few weeks (or sometimes months) in advance, we do encourage early ordering
